i know that, but that doesn't mean they can't abuse a photochemical pathway. lots of things that aren't plants have some sort of photosensitive mechanism, and it wouldn't be too surprising to find out that fungi would rather fruit somewhere where they're likely to have spores blown around
besides that they've already seen some photosensitive activity happening in things like that. not every light initiated biological reaction network has to be photosynthesis. most aren't
